Latest update - adding maps to UW & FOW?
"Improved the Mission Map (the window accessed by using the "U" key) so that it works properly in the Catacombs, the Underworld, and Fissure of Woe, where previously it showed only black."
http://www.guildwars.com/support/gameupdates/ Im at work so im not able to check. Does this mean we can now see maps for UW, FOF and SF? Last edited by freekedoutfish; Sep 15, 2006 at 12:33 PM // 12:33.. |

Nothing in SF so far as I can tell, but then that wasn't mentioned in the update notes anyway.

Making maps was a mistake imo, FoW/UW were that little harder because you didnt always know where you were going. Over time you would have had a detailed map imprinted into your skull (i know i did).
Makes it easier for the newb's but im against this "lets balance GW beyond belief" that Anet has. |

This update helps, sure, but it doesn't mean anything to older PvE'ers. I preferred it the old way as well.. |

No SF or dragons lair maps. The radar map has always been there, the "u" map is new, but doesn't help anyone out unless it counted as explorer (which it doesn't). Basically if you don't know about uw or fissure, no map is going to help out much. Most people follow arrows for quests anyway it seems, which didn't help out in cantha's city map (neither did the u mini). Anyway, it's a long time comming for one of those incompleted things-to-do items for anet and i say, it's about time, it's been well over a year!

I was helping a guildie Get a Spider (We got wiped in the actual quest because the villagers died ) and I noticed the U map working and uncovering the Fog of War effect.

Adding the maps doesn't help the new people anyway. The challenge there isn't about finding your way around, it is about playing and pulling and tanking and agro. Map has nothing to do with it. While nice, I see it as pretty pointless. Anyone who has been there more than a few times knows exactly where they need to go. If you haven't, you are with a group that is telling you what to do.
I would have liked to see a map for SF though. As many times as I have been through there I still get a bit lost from time to time. |
